|Description||We offer a PhD position in the interdisciplinary research field of Molecular Ecology. The position is available in the groups of Anja Linstädter and Michael Lenhard at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biology, University of Potsdam, Germany.
The project aims to characterize the genetic basis underlying plastic responses of leaf traits to environmental variation seen in different Arabidopsis thaliana accessions. This study of phenotypic plasticity will use large-scale plant phenotyping and quantitative-genetic approaches to identify genetic variants that influence the responsiveness of plant form and function to variable environmental conditions. Candidate genes will be followed up for functional analysis using methods of molecular, developmental and cell biology. The project will thus provide training in state-of-the-art methods in functional plant ecology, quantitative genetics, and molecular ecology.
The successful candidate holds an excellent MSc degree in Biology with a focus on Genetics, Developmental Biology or Functional Ecology. He/she should have relevant previous research experience and very good skills in statistical analyses with R.
The position is offered according to the German payscale TV-L E13 (50%) for three years, with a start date in early 2021. For additional information, please refer to the group websites (https://www.uni-potsdam.de/de/ibb-biodiversitaet/index ) & www.uni-potsdam.de/en/ibb-genetik/) or contact Anja Linstädter (email@example.com) and Michael Lenhard (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Please submit your documents (CV, copies of certificates, motivation letter, contact data of at least two referees) as one pdf document to Ms Jennifer Kaminski (email@example.com).
Application deadline is January 31st 2021, or until the position is filled.
