Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge 2021

 This fifth Cisco Global Problem Solving Challenge aims to recognize new business ideas that leverage technology to make social impact of entrepreneurs around the world. Our goal is to advance early-stage projects that are beyond the concept or idea formation stage, but have yet to generate more than $ 1 million in funding and / or revenue.

$ 1,000,000 USD in prizes will help accelerate the adoption of innovative technology, products, and services that drive economic development and / or solve social or environmental problems.

If your solution uses digital technology to positively impact society or the environment, consider joining. Areas of impact include, but are not limited to, critical human needs such as water or food security, healthcare, financial inclusion, education, accessibility, and the environment. The goal is to advance early-stage projects that are beyond the concept or idea formation stage, but have not yet generated more than $ 1 million in funding and / or revenue. The program looks for projects with a dedicated team and that have completed a proof of concept for core product / service functionality at a minimum.

Eligibility Criteria :

This contest is open and offered only to

Individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of enrollment (“Individual Participant”).
Teams of up to five persons eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of registration (“Team Participant”).
Legal Business Entities (“Business Entity Participant”).

  • USD 50,000 Greenhouse Gas Solutions Prize: A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.
  • USD 50,000 Ethical AI Prize: A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.
  • USD 50,000 Digital Inclusivity Prize: A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.
  • USD 50,000 HBCU Startup Prize: A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.
  • USD 50,000 Pandemic Response Prize: the team who work on ideas relevant to secure against the pandemic.

Prize Money

  • USD 250,000 Grand Prize: A single team will be designated the grand prize winner.
  • USD 75,000 Regional First Runners-Up: Three teams from the Americas, EMEAR, and APJC will be designated the regional first runners-up and will receive USD 75,000 each.
  • USD 50,000 Second Runners-Up: Three teams will be designated the second runners-up and receive USD 50,000 each.
  • USD 25,000 Third Runners-Up: Three teams will be designated the third runners-up and receive USD 25,000 each.
  • USD 10,000 Fourth Runners-Up: Three teams will be designated the fourth runners-up and receive USD 10,000 each.
  • USD 10,000 People’s Choice: The finalist entry that receives the most votes will receive the People’s Choice Award.
  • USD 10,000 Cisco Employees’ Choice: The finalist entry that receives the most votes will receive the Cisco Employees’ Choice Award.
  • A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.
