Are you looking for an exciting PhD position in relation to agricultural and food economics with a focus on sustainability performance among firms in the food system? Would you like to work in a dynamic research group with several ongoing disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations? Are you highly motivated to undertake PhD training?
We are looking for a PhD student who would like to work on a research theme related to sustainability performance among firms in the food system. The project is designed to apply a mixed methods approach. The successful candidate is expected to carry out supervised research leading to a PhD thesis as well as taking PhD courses to the equivalent of 90 credits.
The position will be placed within the research group Agricultural and Food Economics at the Department of Economics, SLU. In this group, the successful candidate will be offered a stimulating context with colleagues who focus on various aspects of agricultural and food economics, including production economics, agricultural policy and trade. The group is engaged in several interdisciplinary collaborations and focuses much of its work on various aspects related to sustainability in the food system.
Basic eligibility for third cycle education in Economics. The successful applicant is expected to possess basic knowledge related to research methods in Agricultural and Food Economics or in other related fields. The position requires very good communication skills in English. The successful applicant should be strongly motivated to work with tasks outlined above, she/he is expected to work to establish own initiatives to move the PhD project forward and to work well in a research team. Advanced knowledge related to statistical analyses will be considered of merit, as will an understanding about the Swedish food system. Personal merits will play a significant role in the recruitment process.

A person has basic eligibility for third cycle education if he or she has taken a second cycle qualification or has completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, including at least 60 higher education credits at second cycle education. Upper secondary school grades equivalent to English B/English 6 are a basic requirement.
Selection among applicants meeting the requirements is made with reference to written application including curriculum vitae, copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, one copy of the dissertation for masters or undergraduate degree, a list of at least two references familiar with the applicant’s qualifications, certified knowledge of the English language and an interview.
Please observe that applicant/s chosen to participate in an interview shall hand in certified true copies of certificates, diplomas and transcripts from previous studies at an internationally recognized higher education institution (university or university college) and transcripts in connection to the interview.
