Description | At the TU Dresden, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Institute for Energy Technology, there are two positions as
scientific staff at the professorship for hydrogen and nuclear energy technology, subject to the availability of funds, from 01.01.2021 to be filled by December 31, 2023 (duration of employment according to WissZeitVG). There is an opportunity for further scientific qualification (usually doctorate or habilitation). Tasks: The professorship for hydrogen and nuclear energy technology is developing a quantitative method for nuclear material verification within the framework of the BMBF project “DeepCore”. The tasks include the processing of the reactor-physical and metrological fundamentals of zero-power measurements, the planning and implementation of zero-power measurements at the AKR-2, the development of signal evaluation electronics for pulse shape analysis based on FPGAs, the commissioning of recoil proton detectors, the development and testing of advanced evaluation methods Based on machine learning methods and the implementation of radiation transport simulations. Requirements: successful academic university degree in a field related to the task, preferably in one of the fields of physics / mathematics / computer science / nuclear technology; Interest in (reactor-physical) basic research; Ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner; independent way of working; Programming skills (ideally Fortran, C, Python); good command of the English language. Experience with Monte Carlo methods and pedagogical skills are desirable.
