Purpose
Massey University International Student Excellence Scholarships reward high-achieving and capable international students undertaking full-time study at Massey University, supporting them in their studies.
Value and Tenure
The value of the scholarship is up to $25,000.
$10,000 is to be awarded for the first year of study (120 credits) with a subsequent $5,000 per 120 credits up to the total credit value of the programme. Payment will be made against the recipient’s tuition fee account.
Tenure will be determined by the programme duration at the time of selection, up to 3 or 4 years.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
•be full fee-paying international students
•be enrolling for the first time in a Massey University undergraduate degree
•be studying full time either on the Albany, Manawatu or Wellington campus, or online
•have an admission offer of place before the scholarship closing date for the year of award
Selection Criteria
Selection will be based on academic merit. Creative Art applicant’s portfolio will also be considered. Good character will be taken into consideration as illustrated by a letter of recommendation.
The selection panel may take into account other factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s country of origin, when making its decision.
Selection Panel
The scholarships will be awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of a selection panel comprising of a representative from each College, the Office of Global Engagement, and the University Scholarships Committee.
The panel have the right to refrain from awarding a scholarship if there are no suitable applicants and their decision is final.
Conditions of the Scholarship
The scholarship value will be up to $20,000 for a three-year bachelor’s degree or up to $25,000 for a four-year bachelor’s degree.
Students completing a pre-degree pathway through Massey University will be considered as a new student and can be considered for this scholarship upon admission into the undergraduate degree.
Continuation of scholarship payments are subject to the recipient remaining in an eligible programme and maintaining the required Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 (B average) after the first and subsequent years.
Applicants who intend to or are already enrolled in a Massey University partner institution’s articulation programme are not eligible for this scholarship.
Applicants who are seeking advanced standing or credit transfer (but who are not part of a Massey University articulation) are eligible to apply for this scholarship, however, if successful they will only receive up to $5,000 per annum.
Recipients of the Massey University International Student Excellence Scholarships are guaranteed an offer of a place in one of our Halls of Residence, provided an accommodation application is received by the Accommodation Service by 1 October.
The scholarship will be credited to a recipient’s tuition fees account each semester following the final withdrawal (WMR) without financial penalty date.
Continued scholarship payments will only be made if recipients remain full time full fee-paying international students whilst studying in their approved programme throughout the duration of their study.
In the event that a recipient withdraws from the approved programme, and are eligible for a refund of their fees, Massey University will retain the scholarship proportion of the fee paid to the recipient.
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries, or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries, or awards permit co-tenure.
At the discretion of Massey University, the terms and conditions of the award may be modified in special circumstances or to avoid hardship to any recipient.
Recipients are required to attend an event to accept their scholarship and engage with Massey requests for photos and content for promotional purposes.
